The Challenge
VIAVI Solutions is a NASDAQ-listed global leader in network testing and light management tech serving telecom, defense, and aerospace customers. You'll own Product Marketing Engineering for their Position, Navigation & Timing (PNT) solutions—bridging commercial and military customers while translating complex embedded systems into compelling go-to-market narratives.
Your Mission
Master VIAVI's PNT product portfolio (GPS/GNSS timing, positioning, inertial nav systems) and become the technical expert who can demo functionality to prospects
Co-create 3-5 technical collateral pieces (application briefs, product battle cards, datasheets) with Product Line Management showcasing real customer use-cases
Shadow sales and pre-sales teams on 5+ customer engagements to understand PNT buying criteria and competitive positioning in defense/aerospace vertical
Establish baseline understanding of competitor positioning and technology trends in the PNT industry
Lead development of a comprehensive Marketing Requirements Document (MRD) for a new PNT product initiative in collaboration with R&D and Product Management
Execute end-to-end support for 2+ Proof of Concepts or RFP responses, including technical scoping, PoC design, and customer delivery
Build a technical content library of 10+ application notes, quick-start guides, and use-case studies addressing specific customer verticals (military, aerospace, telecom)
Establish yourself as the go-to technical resource for sales team—reduce sales cycle friction by 20% through proactive technical guidance and customer education

- You have electrical engineering or equivalent technical background and actually understand RF performance, GPS/GNSS systems, or inertial navigation
- You're comfortable writing technical documentation and translating complex embedded systems into customer-facing narratives—not just corporate marketing speak
- You want hands-on experience with real hardware, PoCs, and customer engagements rather than sitting at a desk writing promotional copy
- You're interested in defense/aerospace/telecom markets and don't need to work remote—Germantown, MD location works for you
- You lack the technical foundation (EE degree or equivalent)—this role demands credibility with engineers and customers, not just marketing skills
- You need remote work or flexibility—this is firmly on-site in Germantown, MD
- You've never worked in a technical B2B environment and aren't comfortable jumping between product specs, demos, and customer conversations
