The Challenge
Jackson James is a rapidly scaling CPG brand flush with investment, entering a huge growth phase. You'll build out retention from scratch, owning the entire lifecycle engine to turn one-time buyers into subscription loyalists.
Your Mission
Audit current email/SMS programs in Klaviyo, establish baseline metrics (repeat rate, LTV, churn), and document gaps in lifecycle flows
Design and launch 3-4 core lifecycle journeys: post-purchase onboarding, replenishment triggers, win-back campaigns, and subscription upgrade flows
Build repeatable testing framework for retention campaigns with clear KPIs (open rate, click rate, repeat purchase lift, LTV impact)
Partner with ecommerce and creative teams to map brand voice into messaging and establish governance for lifecycle campaign QA
Increase repeat purchase rate by 15-25% through optimized post-purchase and replenishment sequencing
Reduce subscription churn by 10%+ via targeted win-back and engagement campaigns based on cohort analysis
Launch loyalty program strategy (if applicable) and Amazon retention playbook to capture cross-channel repeat buyers
Document and scale 2-3 innovative retention initiatives beyond standard lifecycle (exclusive early access, VIP tiers, community engagement)
KPIs You'll Own
Repeat Purchase Rate
Percentage of first-time buyers converting to repeat customers within 90 days, tracked by cohort and channel.
Customer Lifetime Value (LTV)
Total revenue generated per customer over their lifetime; optimize by lifecycle stage to maximize repeat revenue.
Subscription Churn Rate
Monthly percentage of active subscribers canceling; target reduction through engagement and win-back campaigns.
Email/SMS Engagement & Conversion
Open rates, click rates, and revenue per email/SMS send; benchmark against industry and test for optimization.
Campaign ROI
Revenue generated per dollar spent on lifecycle campaigns; track by journey and promotional type.
