JZ Smart Media is a performance-driven digital marketing agency specializing in home services businesses, remodeling, roofing, garage doors, locksmiths, chimney services, and more. We manage Google Ads, Local Services Ads, SEO, and conversion tracking for clients across multiple markets including San Diego, Seattle, the Bay Area, NYC, and Dallas. Our clients stay with us because we drive booked jobs and revenue, not vanity metrics.
Search behavior is shifting from ten blue links to AI answers. Homeowners now find contractors through Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity as much as traditional rankings and the local pack. We're hiring a senior expert who has already adapted, and can put our clients ahead of that curve.
The Role
You'll own the organic and AI search visibility strategy across our client portfolio, from technical foundation to content to measurement. This is a senior, hands-on role: you set the strategy, execute the hard parts yourself, and answer for the results. You'll work directly with agency leadership and be the authority on everything organic.
What You'll Own
- Full-stack SEO strategy and execution for a portfolio of multi-location home services clients (WordPress/Elementor stack), technical, on-page, local, and content
- AI search optimization (AEO/GEO): entity and knowledge-graph optimization, advanced schema architecture (LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ, review markup), content engineered for AI Overview inclusion and LLM citation, llms.txt and crawler access strategy, and measuring AI assistant referrals and citations in GA4 and beyond
- Site architecture at scale: designing location/service page systems for multi-market clients that build topical authority, and dismantling doorway-page bloat, duplicate structures, and legacy URL debt with proper migration/redirect strategy
- Technical SEO: crawl and log-file analysis, indexation control, Core Web Vitals remediation, JavaScript rendering issues, international/multi-location NAP and entity consistency
- Local SEO leadership: Google Business Profile strategy across multi-location brands, review velocity programs, local pack ranking factors, citation and NAP hygiene
- Content systems: high-intent editorial programs (cost guides, permit guides, comparison content) including AI-assisted production workflows with rigorous quality control, you know how to scale content without producing slop
- Measurement: you diagnose broken tracking, not just report on it, GA4 property configuration, GTM event architecture, key event setup, Search Console analysis, and attribution across organic, paid, and LSA
- Client-facing authority: presenting strategy and results to business owners in plain language, defending recommendations with data, and coordinating with our paid media team so organic and paid compound instead of compete
What You Bring
Required:
- 5+ years of hands-on SEO with documented, verifiable results in competitive local/leadgen niches, agency or multi-location brand experience required
- Real AEO/GEO track record: you can show pages or brands you've gotten cited in AI Overviews, ChatGPT, or Perplexity, and explain exactly how
- Google verification expertise is a must: hands-on experience with Google Business Profile verification, Advanced Verification (for high-fraud categories like locksmiths and garage doors), and LSA onboarding, screening, background checks, license verification, and resolving suspended or stuck verifications
- Deep technical SEO: comfortable with Screaming Frog, log analysis, rendering debugging, and hands-in-the-code fixes on WordPress (Elementor experience strongly preferred)
- Advanced structured data skills, you write and troubleshoot JSON-LD, not just install a plugin
- Expert-level GA4, GTM, and Search Console, you can architect an event/key-event setup from scratch and spot broken tracking in minutes
- Mastery of Ahrefs/Semrush and modern AI visibility tracking tools (Profound, Peec, Otterly, or equivalent)
- Exceptional written English; you edit content to publication standard
- Fully autonomous, you manage your own priorities across multiple accounts and hit deadlines without hand-holding
Strong pluses:
- Home services / contractor vertical experience
- Working knowledge of Google Ads and LSA, and how organic supports paid efficiency
- CallRail or other call tracking / dynamic number insertion experience
- CRO fundamentals, heatmaps, form analytics, landing page testing
- Python/scripting for SEO automation and data analysis
- Portuguese or Hebrew

Compensation
Salary is based on location and experience.
