The Challenge

WPP is the world's largest advertising and marketing services company, and they're building out their data consulting practice. You'll lead strategy for enterprise brands trying to unlock first-party data, customer activation, and measurement—solving real problems at scale for Fortune 500 clients.

Your Mission

First 3 Months
1

Land 2-3 new client engagements by diagnosing their data landscape and pitching actionable CRM/martech strategies

Establish yourself as the technical bridge between client stakeholders and delivery teams—build credibility through clear roadmap design

3

Build relationships with internal tech, data, and strategy teams to understand VML MAP's capabilities and delivery model

4

Create a repeatable diagnostic framework for evaluating client data maturity and identifying quick wins

By 6 Months
1

Successfully deliver 2-3 client projects end-to-end, measuring impact through agreed KPIs (revenue lift, customer activation rate, attribution accuracy)

Develop a portfolio of case studies and solution frameworks (audience activation, measurement, personalization) to inform future pitches

3

Lead a cross-functional working group to standardize data consulting methodologies and tooling across the practice

4

Mentor 1-2 senior consultants and grow the data consulting team's reputation internally as a revenue driver

Client Revenue Impact

Measurable business outcomes (revenue lift, customer acquisition cost reduction, or activation rate improvement) delivered on your projects

Billable Utilization

Percentage of your time spent on billable client work vs. internal/admin tasks (target: 70-75%)

Client Satisfaction & Retention

NPS score and repeat engagement rate from clients you've led—aiming for 80+ and 60%+ repeat work

New Business Pipeline

Value of proposals submitted and close rate on new data consulting opportunities you source or lead

  • You've built or owned CRM, measurement, or audience activation solutions that moved the needle on revenue or customer metrics
  • You thrive in ambiguity—diagnosing messy data landscapes, proposing solutions, and leading delivery without a playbook

  • You need full remote work or flexibility—this is on-site in Austin with travel requirements
  • You're uncomfortable with complex client relationships and executive presence; this role is 40%+ time with stakeholders
  • You haven't worked with marketing tech/data platforms (Salesforce, CDP, analytics tools) or you lack SQL/Python skills for credibility with technical teams
