The Challenge

ScaleUp is a 100+ project software development agency ready to aggressively scale revenue. You'll own the entire sales engine—from Upwork bidding to cold outbound to pipeline management—reporting directly to the CEO with real equity upside.

Your Mission

First 3 Months
1

Establish baseline metrics: current lead sources, win rates, average deal size, and sales cycle length across all channels

Scale Upwork + Freelancer presence: optimize profiles, write 50+ test proposals, achieve 25%+ win rate improvement

Launch and execute first outbound campaign: cold email + LinkedIn outreach targeting 500+ qualified prospects with tracked conversion rates

4

Build proposal and messaging playbook: document top 3 winning templates and positioning statements with performance data

By 6 Months
1

Generate consistent qualified pipeline: 20+ qualified opportunities per month with clear deal stages and close probability

Achieve 30%+ close rate on proposals: continuous A/B testing on messaging, positioning, and call-to-action

Expand lead sources: test and validate 2-3 new acquisition channels (SEO, AI-driven outreach, partnerships) beyond current platforms

4

Build sales team foundation: hire and train first sales team member; document processes, scripts, and systems for repeatability

Monthly Qualified Pipeline Value

Total dollar value of opportunities in active pipeline each month, tracked by stage and probability.

Proposal Win Rate

Percentage of submitted proposals that convert to closed deals; baseline and improve quarterly.

Cost Per Qualified Lead (by channel)

Total spend divided by leads meeting qualification criteria; tracked per acquisition channel for optimization.

Average Deal Size & Sales Cycle

Average revenue per closed deal and days from first contact to close; identify trends and bottlenecks.

Monthly Revenue Closed

Total revenue from deals closed in the month; directly tied to commission and bonus structure.

  • You've built or scaled outbound lead generation programs and can show consistent pipeline metrics
  • You're experienced with Upwork, Freelancer, or similar bidding platforms and understand win-rate optimization
  • You're comfortable in commission-only or high-variable roles and see upside instead of risk
  • You want to build systems and scale a revenue engine, not just execute individual sales tasks
  • You're entrepreneurial, proactive, and ready to test new channels and iterate based on data

  • You need a guaranteed fixed salary and stability over upside potential
  • You prefer account management, customer success, or support over outbound and lead generation
  • You expect heavy structure, micromanagement, or a traditional corporate sales environment
  • You're not comfortable with direct accountability for revenue numbers and commission-based earnings

Discuss your lead generation and sales experience, past results on Upwork/bidding platforms if applicable, and comfort with commission-driven roles

Challenge project or case study

Likely asked to review current sales process, propose improvements, or outline 90-day plan for lead generation and pipeline building

Verification of past outbound/lead gen results and sales performance, especially any Upwork or platform bidding experience
