The Challenge

DoorDash is scaling its consumer growth engine and needs a paid search leader to own one of the largest SEM portfolios in the industry. You'll manage a nine-figure annual budget across Google, Apple, Bing, and emerging AI platforms while building and mentoring a team of 3 direct reports.

Your Mission

First 3 Months
1

Audit existing paid search strategy across all channels and identify 15-20% efficiency gaps through incrementality testing and MMM analysis

2

Establish baseline CAC/LTV metrics and set Q1 targets for New Customer Acquisition and Churned Customer Resurrection cohorts

3

Onboard and align direct reports on campaign taxonomy, bid optimization workflows, and weekly performance review cadence

4

Launch 2-3 pilot tests on emerging AI-driven search platforms and document learnings for scaled rollout

By 6 Months
1

Grow MAU by 8-12% while maintaining or improving CAC efficiency across all paid search channels

2

Scale feed-powered campaigns (DSA, Shopping, Performance Max) to represent 35-40% of total paid search spend with demonstrated incrementality

3

Develop and present quarterly strategic recommendations to leadership on New Customer Acquisition roadmap with 12-month forecasts

4

Build high-performing team: complete 360 reviews, identify 1-2 promotion-track direct reports, reduce campaign execution cycle time by 25%

KPIs You'll Own

CAC (Cost per Acquisition)

Target cost to acquire a new customer, tracked by channel and cohort to optimize budget allocation.

ROAS (Return on Ad Spend)

Revenue generated per dollar spent on paid search, but viewed through incrementality lens rather than last-click attribution.

LTV:CAC Ratio

Lifetime value of acquired customer versus acquisition cost; primary lever for budget efficiency optimization.

Incremental Volume

True incremental conversions from paid search measured via lift testing and MMM, not attributed volume.

MAU Growth Rate

Monthly active user growth percentage driven by paid search channels, tracked month-over-month and year-over-year.

Churn Reactivation Rate

Percentage of churned customers successfully reactivated through paid search resurrection campaigns.

Is This Role For You?

For You If
  • You've managed $50M+ annual paid search budgets and can optimize beyond vanity ROAS metrics
  • You're hands-on with feed-powered campaigns (DSA, Shopping, Performance Max) and understand auction dynamics at scale
  • You've led teams through growth phases and genuinely enjoy mentoring high-performers
  • You're hungry to experiment with emerging AI search platforms and can translate test learnings into strategy
  • You thrive in data-driven environments where incrementality testing and MMM inform every major decision
Won't Work If
  • You're looking for a predominantly remote role—this is on-site in New York
  • You view paid search as a tactical, set-and-forget channel rather than a strategic growth driver
  • You lack experience managing teams or prefer individual contributor work
  • You're uncomfortable making decisions with ambiguous data or running continuous experiments
