The Challenge

SimplyWise is automating the painful admin work for residential contractors—estimating, receipts, mileage tracking. You'll own growth across a portfolio of apps used by real construction businesses, moving fast and experimenting relentlessly with a founding team.

Your Mission

First 3 Months
1

Map the construction contractor buyer journey and identify 2-3 high-potential acquisition channels (paid, organic, or partnerships)

2

Launch and iterate on 4-5 growth experiments (landing page variants, content pieces, partnership outreach) and establish baseline conversion metrics

3

Build deep context on the residential construction market: talk to 15+ target customers, understand pain points, and map competitive landscape

4

Define and track core growth KPIs (CAC, LTV, activation rate, retention) across the app portfolio

By 6 Months
1

Scale the top 1-2 acquisition channels with 3x improvement in CAC or volume, backed by repeatable playbooks

2

Drive 30%+ month-over-month growth in user signups or revenue (depending on model) through systematic experimentation

3

Establish a content or partnership strategy that generates consistent inbound demand or PR mentions

4

Hand off fully documented growth processes to team; mentor 1 junior operator or contractor on tactics and decision-making

KPIs You'll Own

Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)

Cost to acquire one paying contractor customer; track by channel and optimize toward unit economics that support LTV.

Monthly Active Users (MAU) & Activation Rate

Percentage of new signups that perform a key action (estimate, receipt log, mileage entry) within 7 days.

Churn Rate & Retention Cohorts

Monthly customer retention and cohort analysis to identify which acquisition sources or user segments stick longest.

Experiment Velocity & Learnings

Number of growth experiments shipped per month and documented insights (wins and losses) to feed strategy.

Culture

Scrappy, fast-moving, bias toward action and outcomes over process. High ownership, speed, and accountability expected. Not corporate; not a 9-to-5.

Is This Role For You?

For You If
  • You have real exposure to residential construction—worked in it, grew up around it, or have a personal connection to the industry
  • You're energized by experimentation, moving fast without perfect information, and learning by doing
  • You want early-stage equity upside and direct founder access, not a comfortable corporate role
  • You thrive with ownership, ambiguity, and the freedom to push through blockers without permission
  • You're hungry to build something real and measure success by user/revenue growth, not title or seniority
Won't Work If
  • You need clarity, process, and perfect information before moving—this role is about ambiguity and iteration
  • You have no genuine interest in or exposure to the construction industry; you'll struggle to empathize with users and validate assumptions
  • You want a 9-to-5 with clear boundaries and minimal weekends/urgency; early-stage growth demands intensity and availability

Interview Process

1

Initial screen (founder or team lead)

Conversation about your construction exposure, growth philosophy, and examples of experiments you've run or ideas you'd test. Expect direct, no-BS questions.

2

Working session or case study

You may be asked to propose a growth strategy for one of their apps or analyze a competitor/market segment. Shows your thinking and resourcefulness.

3

Founder conversation

Meet the co-founder(s) to align on vision, speed, and working style. This is mutual fit evaluation.

4

Reference check (if applicable)

Likely lightweight; they care more about drive and execution than pedigree.
