The Challenge
AstraZeneca's Rare Diseases division in Brazil needs a strategist who can turn patient insights into market action. You'll own the complete marketing lifecycle for a specialty portfolio—from disease awareness to reimbursement support—while navigating the complexity of cross-functional alignment in a highly regulated space.
Your Mission
Audit current rare disease marketing portfolio performance and identify 3-5 quick wins in patient identification or demand generation
Build stakeholder map and secure alignment on strategic priorities with Medical Affairs, Sales, Legal, and Regional/Global teams
Launch first disease state education or patient identification campaign with measurable baseline KPIs
Establish monthly business review cadence and reporting dashboard tracking key performance indicators
Deliver full annual marketing strategic plan with disease-specific tactics, budget allocation, and 12-month revenue/patient impact projections
Achieve 20%+ lift in key patient identification or demand generation metrics vs. baseline
Develop and deploy KOL engagement strategy; establish relationships with 10+ key opinion leaders in rare disease verticals
Build and operationalize high-performing marketing team with clear capability gaps addressed through training or hiring

- You have 5+ years in specialty/rare disease pharmaceutical or biotech marketing (Product Manager or equivalent)
- You're analytically sharp and comfortable challenging assumptions with data; patient insights drive your strategy
- You thrive managing complexity across legal, compliance, medical, and sales without direct authority—influence is your superpower
- You speak fluent English and Portuguese (or willing to learn); you're comfortable with 20% travel and field immersion
- You hold or aspire to an MBA; life sciences background is table stakes
- You prefer heads-down execution over strategy and stakeholder influence; this role is 60% alignment, 40% tactics
- You lack experience in regulated pharma/biotech or product lifecycle management—the compliance complexity is real
- You're remote-only or unwilling to be based on-site in Cotia, São Paulo for 80% of your time
- You're uncomfortable with ambiguity in rare disease markets; data gaps and limited historical precedent are the norm
