What you'll do

OpenAI needs an ads marketer who can turn advertiser needs and complex AI products into clear positioning, smart launches, and measurable adoption. You’ll shape the strategy and make the work happen.

What the role really is

You own marketing for a piece of OpenAI’s advertising business. That means listening closely to advertisers, bringing what you learn into product decisions, and giving new products a clear story from planning through launch and adoption.

What you'll do

  • Set product and marketing strategy for your area with cross-functional partners.
  • Research advertiser needs, market shifts, and competitors to spot opportunities in positioning, adoption, and product-market fit.
  • Own messaging for different advertiser audiences and use cases.
  • Bring market and customer insight into product roadmaps and decisions.
  • Plan and run launches, then use performance and adoption data to improve what comes next.
  • Create advertiser content and sales tools, including product narratives, decks, one-pagers, FAQs, and launch communications.
  • Work with Sales, Partnerships, Data Science, and Analytics to define success measures and assess results.
  • Surface concerns and risks around performance, safety, policy, and trust, then work with relevant teams on launch plans and customer communications.
  • Align partners on priorities, owners, and timing. Make tradeoffs and clear blockers.
  • Build repeatable launch and messaging practices, share what you learn, and mentor peers.

What they want

  • Experience setting product and marketing strategy and bringing products to market, especially in advertising, marketing technology, platforms, data, or AI.
  • Experience solving structured problems, including in consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, or venture capital.
  • A solid grasp of advertiser goals and the ad ecosystem, including measurement, targeting, relevance, creative, auctions, and performance tradeoffs.
  • The ability to turn research and market insight into positioning, go-to-market plans, and product recommendations.
  • Clear, persuasive communication that makes technical concepts matter to different audiences.
  • Comfort using interviews, surveys, adoption data, and experiments to guide decisions.
  • Strong judgment in ambiguous situations, with the ability to set priorities and carry work from strategy through execution.
  • Skill at building partnerships and driving alignment across teams without formal authority.
  • An interest in improving team practices and helping peers sharpen their work.

Why it's interesting

This role puts advertiser insight close to product decisions. You’ll shape both how an advertising product is built and how the market understands it, with responsibility for the launch and what adoption data says afterward.
