What you'll do
A growth and revenue data team is only useful if people trust the numbers. You’ll lead the team responsible for making that trust real across OpenAI’s products.
What the role really is
You own the data strategy for growth and revenue, from product behavior and subscriptions through checkout, payments, and revenue. The job is to build a team and a dependable data foundation that helps product, finance, and company leaders make decisions from the same facts.
What you'll do
- Lead, hire, and develop an inclusive data engineering team.
- Set the data strategy and roadmap across growth accounting, partnerships, checkout, billing, payments, revenue, and monetization.
- Build well-modeled data products that connect product activity, subscription state, checkout events, payment outcomes, and revenue.
- Establish shared metric definitions and data quality standards.
- Work with Data Science and Product on experiments, causal measurement, funnel analysis, and self-serve analytics.
- Work with Finance and Financial Engineering to reconcile analytical revenue views with financial truth and billing systems.
- Improve pipeline reliability, observability, privacy, governance, and incident response.
- Make clear tradeoffs and communicate progress and risks to technical and business partners.
What they want
- Experience leading and scaling data engineering teams in a fast-moving product or technology environment.
- Strong technical judgment across SQL, Python or Scala, Spark, orchestration, dimensional and event modeling, and lakehouse or warehouse architectures.
- Experience building growth, lifecycle, attribution, subscription, billing, payments, revenue, or monetization data products at meaningful scale.
- The ability to turn unclear business questions into durable data contracts, metric definitions, and roadmaps.
- Strong partnerships across Data Science, Product, Finance, Financial Engineering, GTM, and Engineering.
- A deep commitment to data quality, privacy, security, and operational health.
- People leadership that includes hiring well, developing talent, giving clear feedback, and making room for diverse perspectives.
Why it's interesting
You’ll shape how OpenAI understands adoption, engagement, and payment across its products. The first stretch is about earning trust, clarifying ownership, assessing the data portfolio, and agreeing on priorities. Over time, the goal is for stakeholders to make lifecycle, attribution, subscriber, billing, payment, monetization, and revenue decisions from a smaller set of trusted datasets and metrics.
