What you'll do
A rare disease community is not a growth channel you can fake. This role is for someone who can earn trust first, then build community into a real source of patient growth.
What the role really is
You’ll own community marketing for patients, families, and caregivers, across online spaces and in-person events. The job is to turn scattered communities into places where people participate, share, and bring others in, while keeping patient acquisition and cost in view.
What you'll do
- Set the strategy across social, online groups, content, email, events, conferences, meetups, and fundraisers.
- Create campaigns that get patients and caregivers involved.
- Build relationships with patient advocacy groups and foundations across rare diseases.
- Test referrals, email outreach, partnerships, sponsorships, events, participant compensation, and paid media.
- Track how community work affects patient acquisition and CAC. Change course based on what you learn.
- Turn what works into repeatable playbooks.
- Represent Probably Genetic at community events and partner meetings. Regular travel is part of the job.
What they want
- 5 to 10 years in community marketing or community-led growth at a consumer brand with an active user community. Health, wellness, fitness, productivity, and lifestyle are relevant backgrounds.
- Proof you’ve grown a community where members participate, create content, refer others, or organize around the brand.
- Creative instincts, plus the ability to take an idea from concept through execution.
- Experience building communities both online and in person.
- Comfort using data to understand growth, engagement, and CAC.
- Strong writing and speaking skills. You can shape a brand voice for a high-trust context.
- Empathy for people dealing with sensitive, high-stakes health issues.
- Willingness to travel regularly.
Why it's interesting
Probably Genetic’s platform helps drug developers and patient advocacy groups find and support people with severe, complex diseases. You’d build community around a mission where trust and patient impact are central, and connect that work to measurable growth. Rare disease experience is welcome, but you can learn it on the job.
