What you'll do
A lot of checkout design is really systems design in disguise. This role owns the commercial journey from plan choice through purchase and expansion, and it suits a designer who can make complex offers feel clear.
What the role really is
You’ll own design across plan selection, cart, checkout, cross-sell, and pricing pages. The job is to turn commercial goals into patterns that work across Squarespace products, while connecting discovery to what happens after purchase.
It’s a Staff-level individual contributor role with a player-coach angle: strong hands-on craft, plus a real hand in shaping how the broader Commercial Growth design group works.
What you'll do
- Lead design across plan selection, cart merchandising, and cross-sell.
- Turn pricing, packaging, bundling, discounts, and messaging needs into reusable UX patterns.
- Build cross-sell placements and interaction models that can work across product lines.
- Partner with product, engineering, Commercial Strategy, RevSys, Platform, and Data Science on purchase flows, targeting, and experiments.
- Connect Frontsite discovery journeys to downstream conversion.
- Set patterns and principles for a consistent commercial experience.
- Mentor designers and give actionable feedback on complex systems and craft.
What they want
- 10+ years in product design at a digital product company, including Staff-level or equivalent experience.
- A portfolio showing complex systems work and clear user and business impact. Commerce, checkout, pricing, or monetization experience is a plus.
- Experience taking cross-functional work from ambiguity to shipped product, including setting direction and aligning stakeholders.
- A track record of turning business requirements into scalable, intuitive UX across a broad product portfolio.
- Strong systems thinking across data models, flows, and dependencies.
- The initiative to frame ambiguous problems, surface constraints, and clarify goals.
- Experience designing for or alongside experimentation and targeting systems.
- Clear communication, from strategy to detailed UX decisions, including with senior leaders.
- A high craft bar and an interest in coaching designers.
- Experience with Frontsite or marketing-site journeys is a plus.
Why it's interesting
The work spans the whole commercial journey, from discovery to purchase to expansion. You’ll shape some of Squarespace’s most consequential product surfaces and help set the design patterns for a newly unified Commercial Growth organization.
Squarespace is a design-driven platform for building brands and businesses online.
