What you'll do
Perplexity needs an Android engineer who treats growth as product work. You’ll own the path from install to a user’s first useful task, then help make coming back and upgrading feel natural.
What the role really is
You’ll build and test the Android experiences that help people find, adopt, and stick with Perplexity, Comet, and Computer. The work spans onboarding, notifications, paywalls, and app store discovery. It also means shipping experiments around the realities of mobile: release cycles, store review, and version fragmentation.
What you'll do
- Own Android growth surfaces from install and activation through retention and paid upgrades.
- Take experiments from hypothesis and instrumentation to implementation, analysis, and rollout.
- Build flag-driven and server-driven patterns so experiments can ship without waiting for a store release.
- Own billing integrations, paywalls, subscription and credit purchases, entitlements, and pricing experiments.
- Create notification flows with thoughtful prompts, targeting, timing, and links back to the right task.
- Work with web and design engineers to keep onboarding, upsells, and in-task nudges consistent across platforms.
- Partner with Growth on app store performance and attribution.
- Track funnel behavior and experiment results, then work with Product, Design, Data Science, Monetization, Marketing, and Mobile to turn what you learn into product improvements.
What they want
- At least 3 years of professional Android experience shipping consumer apps at meaningful scale.
- Strong Kotlin and Jetpack Compose skills, plus willingness to work across the stack when needed.
- Experience owning a full release cycle, including rollouts, store review, monitoring, and safe rollbacks.
- A track record of shipping experiments and product improvements in parallel and driving them to a clear outcome.
- Familiarity with A/B testing tools, especially in versioned apps.
- Comfort pulling, segmenting, and interpreting funnel data.
- Good product judgment and strong ownership. You spot opportunities, propose tests, and carry work through.
- Interest in AI products and willingness to learn quickly.
Why it's interesting
This team works close to the core product. Growth here means turning behavioral signals and model outputs into product surfaces people use across consumer and enterprise workflows. If you like fast experiments, end-to-end ownership, and getting into the details of mobile releases, there’s real scope to shape how people discover and build habits around these products.

About Growth Marketing roles
Growth marketers drive user acquisition, activation, and retention through data-driven experimentation. They sit at the intersection of product, data, and marketing — running A/B tests, building funnels, and scaling what works.
