You’ve built data teams and managed managers. Now you’ll set how Stripe decides where marketing should invest, what’s working, and what to do next.
What the role really is
This is a senior leadership job with real business stakes. You’ll lead Marketing Data Science, shape its long-term direction, and make sure measurement, models, and analysis change decisions across Stripe’s marketing.
What you'll do
- Set the team’s vision and multi-year roadmap around Stripe’s growth strategy.
- Build a measurement strategy that ties marketing investment to incremental growth, pipeline, revenue, product adoption, and long-term customer value.
- Guide decisions on investment across channels, audiences, markets, and products.
- Set direction for targeting, propensity, and optimization models, and for how marketing uses AI.
- Partner with Marketing and Finance on forecasts, goals, budgets, and performance.
- Establish trusted metrics, data sources, and measurement standards.
- Turn complex analysis into recommendations that senior leaders can act on.
- Build and develop an organization of data scientists, analysts, and managers.
- Work across Marketing, Sales, Growth, Product, Finance, and Engineering to deliver shared outcomes.
What they want
- 15+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, 12+ with a master’s, or 8+ with a PhD in a quantitative field.
- At least 5 years leading data science or analytics teams, including 3+ years managing managers and scaling organizations.
- Experience shaping business strategy as a senior data leader and influencing executive decisions.
- Deep marketing data science experience in areas like measurement, experimentation, causal inference, targeting, attribution, or investment optimization.
- A record of setting long-term data strategy and turning it into a focused roadmap with measurable outcomes.
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional data work from an ambiguous question through adoption.
- Strong statistical grounding in marketing effectiveness and incremental impact.
- Working knowledge of SQL and Python or R.
- Skill at explaining complex analysis clearly and building alignment across functions.
- Success recruiting and developing senior data scientists, analysts, and managers.
Why it's interesting
Marketing gets complicated fast when you serve startups, small businesses, enterprises, and consumers across many channels. The challenge here is to make the evidence clear enough that leaders can place better bets on growth.
