What you'll do
If your best work gets buried in a paid campaign, this probably isn’t your kind of creative leadership. Duolingo wants someone who can turn sharp cultural instincts into work people notice, and build the creative team and standards to keep doing it.
What the role really is
You’ll set the creative direction for Duolingo’s marketing, lead other creative leaders, and connect the work to brand and business goals. The job runs from the brief to launch, across brand campaigns, social, partnerships, and user acquisition.
What you'll do
- Set the creative vision for marketing work and keep it tied to company strategy and business metrics.
- Lead and mentor creatives, raising the bar for craft, storytelling, and taste while making room for different voices and experimentation.
- Turn insights into campaign concepts, then guide work across social, video, experiential, and partnerships.
- Shape briefs with Brand Marketing and make the trade-offs needed to produce work that builds brand love and growth.
- Work with Growth Marketing to build a performance creative studio for user acquisition around the world.
- Lead Duolingo’s global agency roster with Country Marketing, setting scopes, standards, and handoffs.
- Give clear feedback and make timely creative calls from early concepts through final execution.
- Bring in industry trends, creative references, and new platforms. Define what feels on brand and how brand success is measured.
What they want
- A track record in brand or creative leadership, including significant experience leading other creative leaders.
- Experience shipping integrated campaigns across a wide range of budgets.
- The judgment to set a creative vision, influence senior stakeholders, and tie creative choices to strategy, KPIs, and ROI.
- A record of turning insights into culture-driving ideas and guiding multidisciplinary teams from concept to launch.
- Strong communication and feedback skills. You can simplify complex topics, make sound decisions quickly, and bring people with you.
- Experience managing agencies and external partners across markets.
- Ability to work from or relocate to New York City or London.
- Extra points for IP-led brands, global creative leadership, social and creator fluency, and a portfolio that earns attention through craft and storytelling.
- Experience building clear ways of working with marketing, product, and design partners is also a plus.
Why it's interesting
You get to shape how a global education brand shows up in culture, while building the creative leadership and agency practices behind that work. The challenge is balancing ideas people care about with work that moves measurable business goals.
