Growth marketers talk to each other and they know the market. If your range is off, you will not hear about it. The strong candidates will just skip your post and you will end up choosing from whoever was left. Here is what to pay in 2026 and how to set a range that pulls in the people you actually want.
Base salary by level (US, 2026)
From live growth marketing listings on Growth.Talent:
| Level | Base salary (USD) | What they do |
|---|---|---|
| Growth Marketer (IC) | $90K to $130K | Runs one or two channels, executes |
| Senior Growth Marketer | $120K to $160K | Owns a channel P&L, mentors |
| Growth Lead / Manager | $150K to $200K | Owns the roadmap, small team |
| Head of Growth | $180K to $280K | Owns the funnel and the org |
Adjust for company stage
Stage moves the number as much as level does. A seed-stage company pays the low end of each band and makes up the gap with equity. A growth-stage or PLG company (think Notion, Linear, Webflow) and AI-native companies pay the top end, sometimes above it, because one great growth hire can change the trajectory of the business.
Equity and total comp
At venture-backed companies, equity is part of the offer, not a bonus. Expect to grant 0.05% to 0.25% for an IC and 0.25% to 1% for a Head of Growth, depending on stage. Total comp at growth-stage companies often lands 30% to 50% above base once equity is counted.
Remote and geography
Most US growth roles are now remote or hybrid, and the market has largely converged on US-wide bands rather than city-specific ones. In France, divide the US base by roughly two for gross euros. In LatAm, anchor to the local market rather than the US number, ranges vary widely by country.
How to set your range
- Post the range. Listings with a salary get more and better applications, and it is now required in much of the US and EU. Leaving it off reads as "we will lowball you."
- Anchor to level and stage, then widen by 15 to 20%. A tight range signals inflexibility. Give yourself room to reward a stronger candidate.
- Do not ask for a Head of Growth on a senior-IC budget. The mismatch wastes everyone's time and quietly kills your application rate.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference in pay between a growth marketer and a performance marketer?
They overlap and pay similarly at the same level. Performance marketers who own large paid budgets can command the top of the band because the ROI is directly measurable.
Should I pay a bonus?
Growth roles usually carry a modest bonus (5 to 15%) tied to the North Star metric. Equity matters more than bonus at early-stage companies.
