Role:
The Account Director is a senior strategic leader responsible for driving client business growth, deepening executive-level relationships, and overseeing integrated marketing initiatives across multiple accounts or a large, complex account. The role requires a balance of strategic rigor, creative fluency, and team leadership. The Account Director serves as the client’s trusted advisor while championing breakthrough creative work that delivers measurable impact and strengthens long-term agency partnerships. This role also stewards the account across the agency, while mentoring junior account managers on the team. This role reports into the Sr. Account Director and/or Head of Account Management.
Responsibilities:
● Partner closely with Strategy to drive strategic vision and planning for the client, and ensure that the day-to-day execution is smooth.
● Partner with the Head of Account Management to proactively identify and seek out organic growth opportunities to expand the agency’s connection to the client’s business and lead future account planning.
● Play a key role in positioning the agency as a cultural marketing thought leader and develop deep expertise on the client’s business.
● Oversee creation of campaign planning materials, and partner with the core team to develop campaign ideas and brand actions that help our clients break through in culture.
● Help support on key new business initiatives and new engagements for the agency.
● Create a thriving environment for other Account team members and cross functional teams.
● Manage and mentor a team of junior account managers to help guide and support the internal strategy and creative processes, including Account Supervisor(s), Account Executive(s) and/or Account Coordinator(s).
● Oversee budget health, review and manage scopes, provide input on schedules/work backs, and partner with the team to evaluate resource management across projects.
● Help set the tone internally for striving for bold and big strategic and creative thinking. Spark your internal team to push boundaries and our client partners.
● Effectively balance the needs of the client, as well as the needs of the agency and internal teams.
● Ensure consistent client satisfaction and retention.
● Foster a collaborative, team oriented environment.
Requirements:
● A minimum of 8-10 years of agency account management experience
● Bachelor’s degree preferred.
● Prior experience managing a team/individuals
● Experience working on culturally relevant or multicultural creative.
● Proven ability to help drive and inspire disruptive creative ideas and breakthrough campaign work.
● Strong leadership and organizational skills.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
● Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem solving capabilities.
● Strong negotiation skills and experience.
● Comprehensive knowledge and experience working on integrated campaigns and brand actions/activations that focus on driving earned cultural coverage.
● Strong experience working on fast-past advertising productions.
● Proven ability to prioritize workflow, manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive results
● Strong ability to manage multiple projects across large cross-functional teams independently and diligently while delivering pre-defined goals
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with client/account management experience required
● Ability to think strategically and creatively, and to problem-solve independently and in groups
● Excellent attention to detail, time management, written and oral communication skills
● Enthusiastic and flexible team-first player with a proactive approach
