The Company

We’re Tallwave, a growth partner that helps organizations turn disconnected growth efforts into connected growth systems. We’re a curious, ambitious team of strategic thinkers and creative problem solvers who understand our clients’ worlds deeply, challenge assumptions, and work across disciplines to solve the constraints holding growth back. We move with speed and discipline, embrace innovation, and hold ourselves accountable for meaningful outcomes. Our ambitions are too big to leave room for individual egos, so we value ownership, humility, selflessness, and the belief that our greatest success comes from what we can accomplish together.

The Person

Tallwave seeks out individuals who are a cut above. Their exceptional skill, diverse perspectives, obsession for winning together, and relentless pursuit of continuous self-improvement, both professionally and personally, give them an innate ability to lead, innovate, and inspire. They have well-honed philosophies and points of view in their areas of expertise, they think unconventionally, and their endless curiosity pushes them to constantly explore, learn, improve, and try new things.

The Job

We’re looking for a Marketing Engineer who will be a key technical contributor to Tallwave's AI Visibility service: how our clients show up when someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, or Google AI Mode what to buy or which vendor to shortlist.

That means measuring the baseline, diagnosing why a brand is absent from the answer, getting the fix shipped inside a large organization, and proving the movement was ours and not the platform's.

You’ll work at the intersection of marketing, technical SEO, data, automation, and AI. You don’t need to be an expert in all of these areas on day one. We’re looking for someone with strong technical fundamentals, a builder mentality, and the curiosity to rapidly develop expertise in an emerging discipline.

Most of the scanning and scoring is agent-run. You’ll operate, verify, troubleshoot and improve the machines rather than doing the work by hand. When you see a repetitive process, your instinct should be to ask how we can automate it.

Given the emerging nature of this position, you will report to the Head of Delivery for now who runs the entire delivery practice, but work alongside practitioners in strategy, product design, and marketing. Much of this work is establishing the validity of this position and process in market with our clients. As you grow in the role, you’ll take increasing ownership of our AI Visibility tooling, automation, measurement methodology, and service capabilities.

You will be responsible for delivering exceptionally.

The Skills

The successful candidate will

  • Build and run a repeatable AI visibility measurement instrument per client: prompt set organized by intent, five-signal scoring (presence, selection, response quality, citations, sentiment), repeated sampling, and a frozen denominator
  • Use the analysis to guide the client's broader marketing strategy, showing where visibility findings should change positioning, content priorities, or product and experience decisions
  • Identify opportunities to automate recurring client and delivery needs and build or contribute to new agent workflows and service extensions
  • Automate prompt execution and scoring across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Mode using platform APIs and Playwright, with an LLM-as-judge pipeline calibrated against hand-scored samples
  • Audit crawler access for training bots (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, CCBot) and retrieval bots (OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, Claude-User, PerplexityBot) across robots.txt, WAF and CDN rules, and server logs
  • Diagnose rendering, redirect, canonical, and JavaScript issues that retrieval crawlers do not tolerate, using Screaming Frog, curl, and headless Chrome
  • Design and implement the entity layer: JSON-LD for Organization, Product, and related types with stable identifiers, sameAs links to Wikidata and other authoritative sources, and consistent product data across owned and retailer pages
  • Own or contribute to the content strategy for AI visibility: identify coverage gaps at the passage level against the prompt set, decide what to rewrite, build, or earn elsewhere, and write or brief the content
  • Implement real changes, not recommendations: ship directly in client CMS and tag management where we have access, and write engineering-ready tickets with acceptance criteria where we do not
  • Lead and influence client marketing, web, and engineering teams to make the changes the analysis calls for, including through legal and brand review
  • Measure impact honestly using a control prompt set, log-side crawler activity, and GA4 AI referral channel groups, and say plainly when the evidence does not support a claim
  • Build, monitor, and version-control the pipeline in Python with Claude Code or the Claude Agent SDK, with drift detection and Slack alerting, and present your own work to clients
  • Design and run experiments that test hypotheses about what improves AI visibility, document the results, and continuously improve Tallwave’s methodology based on what we learn
  • Document repeatable processes, workflows, and technical learnings so that successful approaches can be applied across clients

The Requirements

The ideal candidate will have

3-5 years of experience in technical SEO, marketing engineering, growth engineering, marketing analytics, web development, or a related discipline Demonstrated experience using AI/LLMs in marketing, search, analytics, automation, development, or another practical business application. Direct AI Visibility/GEO experience is strongly preferred but not required. Working Python and SQL, and the habit of automating anything you do twice Strong technical SEO and web fundamentals, including familiarity with how websites are crawled, rendered, indexed, and retrieved Experience working with APIs and automating workflows Deep familiarity with structured data, entity optimization, and how retrieval-augmented systems select and cite sources Experience getting technical changes shipped through an enterprise engineering queue, legal review, and brand review Comfort making a causal argument about performance to an audience that would prefer the platform-reported number Clear writing, at the level of a pillar page or a technical specification an engineer can follow without a meeting Experience presenting your own findings to clients or senior stakeholders Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate unfamiliar technical problems independently A demonstrated curiosity about how AI systems work and a willingness to learn quickly as the technology and platforms evolve

Nice to have

Experience with Profound, Peec, Scrunch, or similar AI visibility platforms Experience with Adobe Experience Manager, Sitecore, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud Agency or consulting background with multiple concurrent clients Experience with Git/GitHub, software development workflows, testing, or CI/CD Experience working with LLM APIs, agents, RAG systems, embeddings, structured outputs, or evaluation frameworks Experience with data pipelines, dashboards, or marketing technology integrations
