The Opportunity
SRFC is seeking a
Director of Marketing & Growth Initiatives
to lead the firm’s marketing efforts, elevate brand visibility, and identify and pursue strategic practice group acquisitions and lateral hiring prospects.This is a hands-on role for a strategic marketing, business development and/or recruiting professional who is equally comfortable developing strategic plans and executing day-to-day priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Acquisitions, Lateral Recruitment and Business Development
- Work with firm and department leadership to identify and recruit key lateral partner prospects and practice group acquisition opportunities.
- Work with firm and department leadership to create business development plans and pipeline initiatives.
- Analyze and keep current on legal market trends, peer firm practices, and compensation data, to bolster the firm’s competitive position.
- Assist in developing and refining candidate pipelines through market intelligence, competitor monitoring, and proactive outreach.
- Manage due diligence for practice group acquisitions and lateral candidates.
- Manage relationships with outside legal recruiters and collaborate with them on select hiring needs when necessary.
Marketing Strategy & Brand Leadership
- Develop and manage firm marketing assets, including firm news, insights, and practice highlights (deal announcements, client alerts, website, SEO, social media content).
- Drive proactive PR, media opportunities and legal industry ranking submissions.
- Coordinate firm announcements, speaking engagements, sponsorships, and conference participation.
- Manage marketing budget and outside vendors (design, PR, web, CRM).
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required.
- At least 3 years of marketing, strategic business development and/or recruiting experience in the professional services industry (preferably experience working in a law firm business development and/or recruiting capacity).
- Demonstrated understanding of the legal industry, including the nuances of law firm practice areas, partner structures, and market dynamics.
- Ability to utilize business intelligence and market data to analyze peer firm competitive dynamics and identify and execute on strategic practice group acquisitions and expansion opportunities.
- Strong writing and editing skills (ready-to-publish and brand-consistent).
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and work confidently with attorneys.
- Project management excellence: prioritization, timeliness, and cross-functional coordination.
- Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with appropriate discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting business development initiatives for securities/corporate and/or litigation practice groups in a law firm setting.
- Experience managing legal industry rankings submissions and PR.
- CRM proficiency and comfort with analytics/reporting.
