The Challenge

Google's Marketing organization needs a Strategy & Operations leader to unlock growth through data-driven insights and cross-functional execution. You'll sit at the intersection of Marketing, Product, Finance, and Engineering-solving ambiguous, high-stakes problems that shape how the world's most impactful products reach users.

Your Mission

First 3 Months
1

Map current S&O processes across Marketing teams; identify 3-5 key operational bottlenecks blocking strategy execution

Build stakeholder relationships with Marketing, Product, Finance, and Engineering leadership; establish weekly sync cadence

3

Design and launch a quarterly business review (QBR) framework to align cross-functional goals and track progress

4

Develop one hypothesis-driven analysis addressing a critical Marketing strategic question for leadership

By 6 Months
1

Implement end-to-end planning and operational processes that reduce cycle time for strategic initiatives by 20%+

2

Lead 2-3 cross-functional initiatives from conception to execution; measure impact against preset metrics

3

Build scalable analytics capability that provides Marketing leadership with real-time strategic insights

4

Coach and mentor 3-4 team members on S&O methodology; improve team's quantitative problem-solving capability

Time from hypothesis to execution launch for cross-functional projects; target 30% reduction in cycle time.

Stakeholder Alignment Score

Quarterly surveys measuring cross-functional clarity on Marketing strategy, goals, and priorities.

Percentage of S&O analyses that directly influence decision-making or shift strategic direction.

Operational Excellence Index

Composite measure of planning accuracy, budget adherence, and cross-functional execution quality.
