Job Summary

As a Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Manager in our revenue cycle consulting line of business, you will play a pivotal role in driving clinical and operational success across client engagements. Leveraging your subject matter expertise and strategic insight, you will lead and oversee customer-facing projects to ensure accurate, complete, and compliant clinical documentation that supports appropriate severity of illness (SOI), risk of mortality (ROM), quality reporting, and reimbursement. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, foster strong client relationships, and deliver high-impact outcomes that support both client goals and Kodiak’s mission.

Responsibilities:

CDI Program & Clinical Operations Management

  • Manage daily operations of customer-facing CDI projects across inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
  • Ensure high-quality execution of all clinical deliverables, including CDI assessments, medical record reviews, and provider education initiatives.
  • Develop and implement CDI policies, procedures, and workflows aligned with best practices.

Clinical Expertise & Advisory Services

  • Serve as a clinical subject matter expert in documentation integrity, coding compliance, and regulatory standards.
  • Advise client leadership and provider teams on best practices for CDI, medical necessity, and accurate coding.
  • Promote a culture of clinical excellence, integrity, and client success.

Education & Provider Engagement

  • Develop and deliver educational programs for providers, clinical staff, and coding teams to improve documentation quality and compliance.

Project Leadership & Change Management

  • Collaborate with Kodiak and client teams to design and implement project plans, governance frameworks, and change management strategies.
  • Facilitate project meetings and ensure timely follow-up on action items to maintain momentum and accountability.
  • Monitor project scope and identify opportunities for contract amendments, supporting their development and execution.

Stakeholder & Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary liaison between internal and external stakeholders on CDI engagements.

Performance Measurement, Analytics & Reporting

  • Establish and monitor CDI performance metrics including query volume, query quality, response rates, CC/MCC capture, SOI/ROM, DRG distribution, and quality impacts.
  • Analyze CDI data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and present reports to internal and external executive leadership.

Financial Impact & ROI

  • Participate in benefit tracking and ROI analysis related to CDI and revenue integrity initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in business or a health-related field is required (an MBA, MHA, and/or MPH is highly desirable).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 to 7 years of CDI experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Consulting Expertise: Previous experience in a professional services or consulting role is essential, demonstrating a proven track record in delivering client-focused solutions.
  • Technical Proficiency & Certification:
    • Registered Nurse (RN), RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CIC, CCDS, CDIP, CPC or equivalent clinical/coding credential required.
    • Strong working knowledge of CMS guidelines, documentation requirements, and coding standards including:
      • ICD-10-CM/PCS coding concepts
      • MS-DRG methodology
      • SOI/ROM, quality measure, and risk adjustment
  • Leadership & Project Management: Proven ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical & Financial Skills:
    • Must have extreme attention to detail and ability to work independently with a team-oriented environment.
    • Strong analytical and financial acumen, with experience in benefit tracking and ROI analysis.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to educate and influence clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.
    • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 25% to client sites, as needed.
