The Challenge

Canva is scaling hard into Mexico and needs someone who can architect and activate a full partnership strategy from scratch. You'll map the entire ecosystem—telcos, fintechs, marketplaces, SMB networks—then close and operationalize deals that drive real user and revenue growth.

Your Mission

First 3 Months
1

Map Mexico's high-value partnership landscape across telcos, fintechs, payments, and marketplaces; identify and prioritize top 10-15 targets with revenue/user impact models

2

Secure and close 2-3 strategic LOIs or partnership agreements with tier-1 players (telcos or major fintechs)

3

Design the partnership operating rhythm—commercial model templates, KPI tracking, reporting cadence, and deal governance framework

4

Build cross-functional activation playbook with Marketing, Growth, Product, and Localization; pilot with first closed partnership

By 6 Months
1

Launch and activate 4-6 live partnerships with measurable user acquisition and revenue contribution tracked against agreed KPIs

2

Establish repeatable go-to-market playbooks that reduce time-to-activation and increase partner ROI predictability

3

Own partnership P&L: model, forecast, and deliver against revenue and user targets; report on partner health and expansion opportunities

4

Build and manage ongoing senior relationships; conduct quarterly business reviews and identify upsell/expansion paths with all active partners

KPIs You'll Own

New Users from Partnerships

Track total new users acquired through partner channels month-over-month and against partnership-specific targets.

Partnership Revenue Impact

Measure direct and attributed revenue generated through active partnerships and ROI vs. acquisition cost.

Time-to-Activation

Days from signed agreement to live co-marketing or integrated activation; target: <60 days for first campaigns.

Partner Health Score

Is This Role For You?

For You If
  • You have 7+ years closing commercial partnerships or leading GTM in tech/fintech, ideally with Mexico ecosystem experience
  • You know Mexico's telcos, fintechs, marketplaces, and SMB landscape deeply—and know how to navigate trust-building and deal closure in this market
  • You obsess over post-signature activation: you measure what matters, optimize partnerships for sustained growth, and hold partners accountable to shared KPIs
  • You can model complex commercial deals, prioritize a massive opportunity set ruthlessly, and communicate impact clearly to leadership
  • You speak fluent English and thrive operating with high autonomy while staying aligned to global strategy
Won't Work If
  • You're primarily a pipeline builder—if you hand off deals after signature and don't care about activation and long-term performance, this won't click
  • You don't have deep Mexico ecosystem relationships or understanding; building from cold outreach without local credibility will be slow and painful
  • You need heavy hand-holding or unclear ownership makes you uncomfortable; this role demands autonomy and self-direction in a matrix org
  • You're not comfortable with on-site work in Mexico City or prefer pure remote; this role requires on-the-ground relationship building

Interview Process

1

Initial Screening

Hiring manager or recruiter confirms partnership background, Mexico market knowledge, and alignment on role scope.

2

Deep Dive Interview

Senior leader (likely VP Growth or Mexico Country Lead) digs into specific partnership deals you've closed: structure, activation, impact, and how you measured success.

3

Cross-Functional Roundtable

Meet with Marketing, Product, and Growth leads to assess collaboration style, commercial rigor, and ability to influence without authority.

4

Case Study / Take-Home

Likely a short framework exercise: given Mexico's partnership landscape, map top 5 opportunities, structure a deal, and outline activation plan.

5

Final Conversation

Executive alignment call with Mexico Country Lead or LATAM leadership on strategy fit and long-term vision for partnerships in Mexico.
