Headway has built a network of 60,000+ therapists accepting insurance, serving 1M+ patients. As Director of Product for Provider Growth, you'll own the entire provider funnel—from acquisition to activation—and drive the product strategy that scales affordable mental healthcare access across America.

Your Mission

First 3 Months
1

Map and audit the full provider funnel (leads, intake, credentialing, onboarding, activation) with clear conversion metrics and drop-off analysis

Define and validate the top 3 high-impact optimization opportunities in onboarding or referrals with data-driven experiments

Build alignment with cross-functional leaders (Design, Engineering, Data, GTM, Ops) on provider growth strategy and first quarter roadmap

4

Conduct 15-20 provider interviews to deeply understand pain points, activation barriers, and referral behavior—feed insights into product strategy

By 6 Months
1

Increase activated provider conversion rate by 20-30% through redesigned onboarding flows and optimized credentialing experience

Launch and scale a high-impact referrals engine that drives 15%+ of new provider signups

3

Build and onboard PM team members focused on distinct areas (onboarding, referrals, group practices); establish operating cadence and success metrics

4

Execute 2-3 bold bets on long-tail growth (e.g., Group Practice expansion, new provider segments) with clear success criteria and learning loops

Percentage of providers acquired through referrals who activate within 30 days vs. other channels

Time-to-Activation (TTA)

Average days from first signup to provider's first patient interaction on Headway platform

Provider Retention / Churn

Monthly active provider retention and churn rates to measure long-term provider satisfaction and platform stickiness

Cost Per Activated Provider

Total GTM and product spend divided by new activated providers to track unit economics efficiency

  • You need 100% remote work—this role is on-site in NYC
  • You prefer incremental optimization over strategic bets; this role requires both, but bold thinking is essential
  • You're uncomfortable with ambiguity or making decisions with incomplete data in a scale-up environment
  • You lack direct experience managing product teams; individual contributor PM experience alone won't cut it at the Director level
