Is This Role For You?

For You If
  • You've shipped product marketing for developer-facing tools and understand how engineers actually buy
  • You can read API docs, understand integrations, and either write basic code or have professional software dev experience
  • You're a storyteller who makes complex technical concepts click for diverse audiences (hobbyists to CTOs)
  • You thrive building marketing functions from scratch and enjoy ownership across messaging, launches, enablement, and strategy
Won't Work If
  • You need a fully remote setup-this role is on-site in San Francisco
  • You're uncomfortable with ambiguity or prefer highly structured processes (early-stage startup PMM is scrappy)
  • You lack hands-on technical literacy or developer community empathy-this is a technical buyer motion

Interview Process

1

Initial conversation

Discussion of your product marketing philosophy, developer experience, and what excites you about Stainless

2

Case study / portfolio review

Walk through 1-2 past launches, campaigns, or positioning work-focus on your thinking process

3

Stakeholder interviews

Likely 2-3 conversations with co-founders, Head of Sales, and/or product leadership

4

Real-world challenge

Short writing exercise or positioning project (e.g., 'How would you message Stainless to a hobbyist vs. an enterprise customer?')
