The Challenge
Canva is scaling aggressively across international markets, and Brazil is a critical growth frontier. You'll own the user engagement growth strategy for an entire country, partnering across product, marketing, and lifecycle to unlock measurable impact in one of their most important markets.
Your Mission
Map current user engagement funnel for Brazil market; identify top 3 underperforming conversion points vs. global benchmarks
Define engagement-focused success metrics (activation rate, DAU/MAU ratio, retention cohorts) with Finance and Analytics
Build stakeholder alignment across Product, Marketing, Lifecycle on Q1 engagement priorities and resource allocation
Launch initial engagement initiative (lifecycle campaign, onboarding flow optimization, or community lever) and track week-1 results
Deliver 15-25% improvement in target engagement metric (e.g., DAU, week-2 retention, feature adoption) vs. baseline
Establish repeatable engagement testing cadence; run 8+ A/B tests on activation, onboarding, or retention hooks
Scale winning engagement initiatives across Brazil user base; document playbook for regional replication
Present data-driven engagement strategy refresh to Country Manager and global leadership; secure budget/roadmap commitment for H2
KPIs You'll Own
Daily Active Users (DAU) / Monthly Active Users (MAU) ratio
Tracks engagement depth; target is typically 25-35% for consumer apps. You'll own Brazil-specific benchmarks and improvement trajectory.
Week-2 retention rate
Measures early user stickiness post-activation. Directly correlates to LTV and is the fastest lever to impact in first 90 days.
Feature adoption rate (by key user segment)
Monitors how newly activated users progress through Canva's core creation workflows. Reveals gaps in onboarding or UX.
Lifecycle email engagement (open, click, conversion rates)
Quantifies effectiveness of triggered messaging campaigns. You'll A/B test copy, timing, and segmentation to drive reactivation.
Cost per engaged user (by acquisition channel)
Blends acquisition spend with engagement outcomes. Forces prioritization: cheap users who don't engage aren't wins.

Is This Role For You?
- You've owned a concrete growth metric or business unit and can quantify the impact (e.g., 'grew DAU by 35% over 12 months')
- You think like a product manager but execute like a marketer: comfortable defining strategy *and* rolling up your sleeves on campaigns, tests, or ops
- You're fluent in English and Portuguese; comfortable presenting to both local teams and global leadership
- You thrive in ambiguity and high-growth environments; you make fast, informed calls without perfect data and iterate quickly
- You need a fully remote setup or won't relocate to São Paulo. This role is on-site.
- You prefer managing large teams over leading cross-functionally. You'll influence without direct authority; soft-skill dependency is high.
- You're purely a marketer or purely a data analyst. This role demands zoom in/out: strategy + execution + analytics.
