The Challenge

Airtable (trusted by 80% of Fortune 100) needs an Analytics Engineer to be the data backbone of Marketing. You'll design canonical data models, build critical dashboards, and enable GTM teams to move fast with confidence—all while pioneering AI-assisted reporting for non-technical stakeholders.

Your Mission

First 3 Months
1

Audit existing marketing data pipelines and establish data quality SLAs; document gaps and propose dbt migration roadmap

2

Build 3-4 foundational dashboards (campaign performance, funnel conversion, pipeline contribution, lead scoring) in Looker/Omni

3

Ship natural language query prototype or AI context layer proof-of-concept for marketing stakeholders

4

Become the go-to data partner: own weekly marketing analytics syncs and resolve all ad-hoc data requests within 24hrs

By 6 Months
1

Own full lifecycle of canonical marketing data models (prototype → production); establish version control, testing, and governance in dbt

2

Scale self-serve tooling: eliminate 80% of ad-hoc data requests via dashboards and AI-assisted reporting features

3

Achieve expert mastery of Airtable's full marketing data stack (dbt, Databricks, Looker, Omni, GTM tools); document as internal knowledge base

4

Partner with Marketing leadership to define and track top 10 business metrics tied to revenue outcomes (CAC, LTV, conversion velocity)

KPIs You'll Own

Dashboard Self-Serve Rate

% of marketing stakeholders accessing dashboards directly vs. requesting ad-hoc reports (target: 85%+ by month 6)

Data Pipeline SLA Compliance

Uptime and timeliness of dbt pipelines delivering marketing data (target: 99.5% on-time delivery)

Time-to-Insight

Average hours from question asked to dashboard/memo delivered (target: reduce from current baseline by 60%)

Is This Role For You?

For You If
  • You live and breathe SQL, dbt, and BI tools—complex joins and window functions are daily language for you
  • You use AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT) as a core part of your workflow, not a gimmick; you have concrete examples to show
  • You're 1–4 years in and hungry to own a full data stack end-to-end (design → production → partnership) at a fast-growing company
  • You thrive translating complex data into clear business narratives for non-technical stakeholders; dashboards and memos are your canvas
  • You're curious about how marketing data drives revenue outcomes and eager to pioneer AI-assisted analytics
Won't Work If
  • You're purely a BI analyst or ad-hoc reporter—this role requires dbt expertise, data modeling, and SQL depth
  • AI tools are unfamiliar to you or feel gimmicky; you need to already be integrating them into daily coding practice
  • You need remote work or prefer hybrid; this is on-site in upstate NY (Syracuse-Auburn area)
  • You're uncomfortable owning end-to-end data pipelines and prefer working in silos on isolated dashboards

Interview Process

1

Phone Screening

30-min conversation about your analytics background, AI tool adoption, and why you're excited about marketing data

2

Technical Assessment

SQL case study (complex queries, optimization) + dbt design scenario; showcase your Cursor/Claude usage on the task

3

Portfolio & Live Demo

Walk through a dashboard or data model you've built; discuss design decisions, tradeoffs, and how you iterated

4

Marketing Stakeholder Panel

Meet 2-3 marketing leaders; discuss how you'd translate their data needs into dashboards and self-serve tools

5

Final Round with Head of Analytics

Deep dive on career trajectory, AI-native workflow philosophy, and how you'll grow into the domain expert role
