The Challenge

Capital One's Small Business Bank is hunting for a PM who can architect the digital front door where prospects become customers. You'll own the web experience that serves the lifeblood of the US economy—small businesses—using data-driven personalization to crush friction and drive conversions.

Your Mission

First 3 Months
1

Map current acquisition funnel end-to-end: identify top 3 friction points and quantify drop-off rates by traffic source

2

Launch baseline A/B testing framework across homepage and core conversion flows; establish win/loss analysis process

3

Align cross-functional stakeholders (marketing, design, data, engineering) on OKRs for Q1; document decision-making cadence

4

Synthesize customer research from 10+ small business interviews to inform personalization strategy roadmap

By 6 Months
1

Ship 3+ personalization experiments; increase conversion rate by 12-18% through tailored messaging and progressive profiling

2

Scale winning experiments; reduce application abandonment by 15% through friction reduction in top 2 identified pain points

3

Build predictive modeling layer to dynamically adjust web experience based on prospect segment (industry, revenue, intent source)

4

Establish product-marketing feedback loop; institutionalize rapid experimentation culture with weekly iteration cycles

Is This Role For You?

For You If
  • You've shipped 2+ growth products and can articulate the metrics that mattered; you live and breathe CAC, conversion rate, and LTV
  • You're comfortable with ambiguity and can make decisions with 70% data; you prototype your way to answers
  • You speak SQL or Python fluently enough to pull your own data and challenge analysts' assumptions
  • You've led cross-functional teams through messy problems and shipped under time/resource constraints; politics don't scare you
Won't Work If
  • You need remote work or flexibility; this is on-site, full-stop
  • You're a process-obsessed theorist; this role demands bias toward shipping and learning from real users immediately
  • You haven't managed a team or influenced matrix orgs; this PM role requires leadership chops, not just individual contribution
  • You're uncomfortable with financial services compliance or lengthy approval cycles; fintech moves slower than B2C SaaS
