About 8090
At 8090, we identify inefficiencies in enterprise operations and deliver AI-powered solutions tailored to each problem. Co-founded and led by Chamath Palihapitiya, we are building a Software Factory capable of generating complete software systems from initial concept through production deployment—eliminating the bloated complexity and overhead of traditional software development.
About the Role
We are hiring an exceptional Growth Engineer to drive activation, expansion, and retention for Software Factory.
Your primary mission: design the systems, automations, and growth loops to help users and enterprises reach meaningful product value as quickly as possible and keep coming back.
This is a cross-functional role that blends growth engineering, technical marketing, customer education, lifecycle automation, and product-led expansion.
You’ll work directly with users, study how they actually interact with the product, and close the gap between where they get stuck and where they find value.
Location
This is an on-site role based in Menlo Park, California or Toronto, Canada.
Responsibilities
Growth and Lifecycle
- Build and optimize lifecycle automation that helps users progress through key product milestones based on their journey, usage, and maturity.
- Design welcome flows, follow-up sequences, and in-product or out-of-product engagement systems that increase activation and retention.
- Analyze cohorts, funnels, and user journeys to identify drop-off points and translate them into high-leverage growth experiments.
- Run experiments aimed at improving activation, retention, expansion, and overall product adoption.
- Develop scalable programs to reduce churn and increase long-term customer success.
Technical Marketing and Expansion
- Build and publish demos that clearly show what Software Factory can do and help convert interest into adoption.
- Own and evolve the demo environment, ensuring it stays polished, relevant, and compelling.
- Create technical content such as walkthroughs, onboarding materials, enablement assets, reference examples, and case studies.
- Partner with growth and product teams to identify which product capabilities are most worth showcasing and what messaging converts.
- Help drive expansion within existing customers by creating repeatable adoption motions, internal enablement materials, and usage-growth programs.
Knowledge, Enablement, and Scale
- Build and maintain onboarding documentation and structured enablement content for users, champions, and enterprise teams.
- Create training and developer enablement programs that help customers become proficient and self-sufficient.
- Develop issue knowledge bases and RCA-driven support content that reduce friction and help customers resolve common problems faster.
- Turn repeated customer questions, blockers, and implementation patterns into reusable internal and external assets.
- Build the materials and systems that help enterprise customers navigate internal rollout, stakeholder buy-in, and broader adoption.
Required Skills
- Obsessive curiosity about user behavior: you watch session recordings for fun and form hypotheses before proposing fixes
- Proven ability to onboard, demo, and support complex technical products for enterprise customers
- Technical fluency: comfortable reading code, building automations, scripting workflows, and using AI tools to move fast
- Data-driven decision-making: you run experiments and report results, not opinions
- A founder-like mindset: high ownership, resourceful, fast-moving, allergic to waiting for permission
- Strong written and verbal communication for customer-facing work and internal advocacy
What Sets a Candidate Apart
- Experience in solutions engineering, customer success, growth, developer relations, technical product marketing, or a similarly cross-functional technical role
- Track record of improving onboarding, activation, or retention metrics in a B2B or developer tools environment
- Comfortable navigating enterprise customer conversations, product analytics, and technical workflows in the same day
- Has worked with or sold into enterprise accounts and understands the difference between self-serve and white-glove customer motions
