The Challenge
Science is launching PRIMA, a first-of-its-kind retinal implant backed by NEJM clinical trials, across Europe. You'll own the entire EU marketing strategy for a device that literally restores vision to patients blinded by dry AMD—navigating complex regulatory landscapes while building physician and patient momentum ahead of CE Mark approval.
Your Mission
Map and validate European market opportunity across key ophthalmology centers; synthesize competitive and regulatory landscape into a prioritized market-by-market go-to-market roadmap
Build foundational KOL network across 4-5 core European markets with initial advisory board recruitment and engagement framework in place
Develop European marketing strategy document (budget, messaging, channel priorities, KPIs) aligned with cross-functional stakeholders and approved by leadership
Design and launch patient-facing awareness campaign framework with at least 2 pilot programs live in target markets
Execute 6-8 major European ophthalmology conferences (EURETINA, DOG, ARVO) with measurable KOL engagement, HCP reach, and lead generation metrics
Scale KOL network to 30+ active relationships across Europe; deliver 12+ advisory board sessions or speaker engagements generating market insights and clinical narratives
Launch fully compliant HCP engagement program (speaker training, educational modules, advisory structure) operational across 3+ countries
Establish baseline European marketing KPIs with quarter-over-quarter tracking showing HCP awareness lift, patient inquiry velocity, and implant center pipeline growth
KPIs You'll Own
HCP Awareness & Engagement
Track physician familiarity with PRIMA, advisory board attendance, speaker engagement reach, and qualified lead volume by country.
Patient Funnel Velocity
Monitor patient inquiry conversion rates, center referral source attribution, and time-to-consultation at implant centers across Europe.

Is This Role For You?
- You've shipped go-to-market strategies for regulated medical devices in Europe and thrive navigating regulatory complexity
- You're comfortable owning strategy AND rolling up sleeves for execution—conference logistics, KOL management, patient content creation
- You're fluent in European healthcare landscapes and have real relationships with major ophthalmology conferences and opinion leaders
- You're mission-driven: the chance to restore sight to blind patients genuinely excites you, not just the title or salary
- You need a fully built marketing team—this is a build-from-scratch role requiring entrepreneurial resourcefulness and hands-on work
- You don't have 10+ years of medical device or life sciences marketing; regulatory acumen and proven launch experience are table stakes
