The Digital Content Manager is responsible for producing multimedia storytelling that supports Plymouth State University’s visibility, recruitment efforts, and institutional engagement across digital channels. The position creates and manages photography, video, and written digital content that highlights academic programs, student experiences, faculty expertise, campus life, and community partnerships.
Duties/Responsibilities
Digital Storytelling and Multimedia Production (45%)
- Capture high-quality photography and video that showcase Plymouth State University’s academic programs, students, faculty, campus life, and community partnerships.
- Source and develop story ideas that highlight institutional priorities including recruitment, enrollment, student success, and alumni engagement.
- Produce short-form and long-form video content optimized for digital platforms including social media and web channels.
- Maintain and organize a centralized digital media library of photography and video assets.
- Develop and manage digital storytelling across University social media platforms to increase visibility, engagement, and audience reach.
- Create engaging social media content aligned with institutional communications and marketing priorities.
- Adapt content to align with evolving social media trends and platform best practices.
- Write and produce digital content including feature stories for the website news page, press releases, and articles for the University’s online magazine.
- Collaborate with campus partners to identify and develop compelling stories highlighting academic programs, faculty expertise, and student achievements.
- Analyze social media performance and digital engagement using platform analytics and GA4.
- Use performance data to inform content strategy and improve audience engagement.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, digital media, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in digital content creation including photography, videography, social media content development, and digital storytelling.
- Experience writing digital content for institutional or organizational communications.
- Strong visual storytelling skills through photography and videography.
- Proficiency in professional editing software including Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and PremierePro.
- Ability to create engaging digital content for social media platforms.
- Knowledge of social media content trends and platform best practices.
- Strong writing and editing skills for digital communications.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced communications environment.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to identify and develop stories.
- Experience using analytics tools to evaluate content performance and audience engagement.
- Experience producing digital content in a higher education or mission-driven organization.
- Drone experience.
- Experience managing social media content planning tools such as Loomly, Later, or Hootsuite.
- Experience producing short-form vertical video for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts.

Compensation Pay Range
$47,920.00 - $85,410.00
