# Marketing Director

The Marketing Director develops and executes marketing strategies that promote Homer as one of Alaska’s premier visitor destination while strengthening the visibility and value of the Homer Chamber of Commerce and its members. The position oversees the Chamber’s digital marketing platforms, websites, social media, visitor publications, branding, advertising, media relations, and promotional campaigns to increase tourism, community engagement, event participation, and member exposure. The Marketing Director works collaboratively with staff, volunteers, community partners, and media to tell Homer’s story through compelling content and innovative marketing initiatives.

*Digital Marketing & Website Management*

· Manage the Chamber's websites, including CMS content, functionality, user experience, and coordination with outside web developers.

· Maintain accurate, engaging website content, images, landing pages, and event information.

· Monitor SEO, search engine registrations, metadata, and website performance.

· Analyze website traffic and recommend improvements based on analytics.

· Coordinate CRM-related website functions with the Membership Director.

· Implement digital marketing campaigns that increase website traffic and visitor engagement.

*Content Creation & Social Media*

· Develop written, graphic, photographic, and video content for websites, social media, newsletters, advertising, and promotional campaigns.

· Manage all Chamber and destination social media platforms, monitor messages, and respond to inquiries.

· Create short-form videos, reels, and visual storytelling highlighting Homer, Chamber members, and events.

· Maintain a digital library of photos, videos, logos, and brand assets.

· Utilize AI tools responsibly to improve efficiency, research, content creation, and campaign effectiveness while maintaining brand quality.

*Branding, Communications & Tourism Marketing*

· Promote Homer as a year-round destination through integrated marketing campaigns.

· Develop and maintain consistent branding and messaging.

· Prepare press releases, media kits, and maintain media contact lists.

· Coordinate media visits, influencer programs, and tourism promotion opportunities.

· Collaborate with tourism partners, businesses, and community organizations.

*Advertising, Publications & Event*s

· Serve as project manager for the annual Homer Visitor Guide.

· Coordinate advertising campaigns and evaluate return on investment.

· Design promotional materials, posters, signage, and event graphics.

· Support Chamber events, trade shows, and community activities including occasional evenings and weekends.

*Reporting & Administration*

· Prepare monthly Board marketing reports including website, social media, email, and advertising analytics.

· Work within the approved marketing budget and recommend new initiatives.

· Participate in committees and represent the Chamber on community committees as assigned.

· Perform other duties and special projects assigned in support of the Chamber's mission.

*Required Qualifications*

· Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or equivalent professional experience.

· Three or more years of professional marketing experience.

· Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.

· Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or equivalent design software.

· Experience managing WordPress or comparable CMS websites.

· Knowledge of SEO, Google Analytics, Google Ads, and email marketing.

· Experience managing major social media platforms and creating short-form video.

· Strong project management, organizational, and customer service skills.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

*Preferred Qualifications*

· Tourism or destination marketing experience.

· Nonprofit or chamber of commerce experience.

· Photography/videography experience.

· Experience with Canva, CRM systems, and AI-assisted marketing tools.

*Success Measures*

· Growth in website traffic and engagement.

· Growth in social media reach and engagement.

· Successful production of the Homer Visitor Guide.

· Increased promotion of Chamber members and events.

· Effective use of the marketing budget with measurable ROI.

· Positive media coverage and strong community partnerships.
