# Email Marketing Lead - E-Commerce

## Accountabilities
- Lead the email marketing department by establishing strategy, standards, processes, playbooks, quality assurance practices, and operating priorities.

- Represent email marketing strategy and performance during client calls, building trusted relationships and potentially taking direct ownership of selected accounts over time.

- Partner with leadership on department tooling, workflows, infrastructure, and long-term roadmap decisions.

- Monitor and report on departmental performance, account health, results, and operational effectiveness.

- Conduct and oversee email marketing audits across platforms such as Klaviyo, HubSpot, and Mailchimp, translating findings into prioritized improvement roadmaps.

- Develop lifecycle marketing strategies covering automation, segmentation, A/B testing, campaign execution, and retention.

- Use AI tools to improve the speed, quality, and scalability of copywriting, campaign development, segmentation, optimization, reporting, and workflow automation.

- Oversee monthly reporting and performance reflection, ensuring insights and recommendations are clearly documented and actionable.

- Maintain high standards for list hygiene, segmentation, integrations, and email deliverability across client accounts.

- Manage and monitor technical deliverability requirements, including DKIM, DMARC, SPF, and related authentication and infrastructure considerations.

- Identify, test, and implement new approaches to email and retention marketing, including practical applications of emerging AI capabilities.

- Support analytics tracking and measurement strategies for current and future campaigns.

- Collaborate with broader marketing functions to coordinate email and retention strategies with paid media, creative, analytics, and other growth initiatives.

- Mentor and support email marketers while helping build the capabilities, infrastructure, and processes needed for a high-performing department.

Requirements:

- 5+ years of experience in email marketing, including experience leading, mentoring, or managing other marketers.

- Strong working knowledge of email and SMS marketing, including lifecycle strategy, automation, segmentation, testing, integrations, and campaign implementation.

- Experience managing both small and large email volumes and contact databases.

- Proven track record managing client accounts, leading teams, or owning email marketing performance across multiple businesses.

- Experience with e-commerce or direct-to-consumer brands, whether in an agency or in-house environment.

- Comfortable incorporating AI tools into day-to-day email marketing workflows to improve efficiency, quality, campaign development, reporting, or automation.

- Hands-on experience with platforms such as Klaviyo, HubSpot, Mailchimp, or comparable email marketing technologies.

- Strong analytical and performance-oriented mindset, with the ability to diagnose underperforming accounts and develop effective corrective strategies.

- Expert-level understanding of email deliverability, including DKIM, DMARC, SPF, list hygiene, authentication, and related technical requirements.

- Experience with email account setup, platform migrations, technical integrations, and email infrastructure is a strong advantage.

- Experience working with established processes, playbooks, QA frameworks, or departmental infrastructure is preferred.

- Previous agency experience and experience building or scaling an email marketing function are strong differentiators.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence presenting strategy and results directly to clients.

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.

- Email copywriting experience is a plus.
